ITFC QUIZ TIME
As a new season rapidly approaches I thought branch members might like to see if their knowledge is up to scratch.
Here we go......
- We’ll start with an easy one. Who has made the most league appearances for the Town and……How many appearances did he make. 2 points. You are allowed to be ten adrift with the second part of the question.
- Who is the Town’s highest league scorer in a season with 41 goals. (We’re going way back). What season was it?.......2 points
- Name three of Pablo Counago’s previous clubs...3 points
- What is the Town’s current official ground capacity?..........2 points if within 300.
- In what year did Town turn professional? A bonus point if you can name the manager at the time………….1 (+ 1) point
- The most goals ever scored in a game by a Town player was 5 by Alan Brazil v. Southampton. But what year was it?.........1 point. 1 bonus point if you get the month
(Scroll down for the answers)
Answers:
- It was Mick Mills of course. He made 591 appearances between 1966 and 1982. (I recall seeing his debut v. Bolton). 2 points. One extra bonus point if you were spot on with 591.
- It was Ted Phillips in season 1956/57. He scored 41 goals. This was before my time of course. 2 points
- You could have had Numancia, Celta Vigo, Huelva and Malaga. One bonus point if you got Huelva.
- Town’s current capacity is 30,311. Two points if you were within 300. Bad luck if you calculated 30,000
- Town turned professional in 1936. The manager at the time was Mick O’Brien. No, I didn’t get it either…2 points including the bonus
- The year was 1981; the month February. Max 2 points
The verdict
0-6 .......Not good enough. You need to brush up on your ITFC knowledge
7-9 .......I would expect most true Ipswich fans to score within this range.
9-11 .......Excellent
12 or more .......You really need to get out more.
There will be more quiz questions in the next bulletin. Until then.......remember.......Keep It Blue

Letters To The Webmaster
I am writing to complain about your so-called quiz. It says if you got between 7 and 9 points you are a true fan.
Well I only got 3 points ("not good enough") so does this mean I'm suddenly not a true fan as I've only been to every home game since 1995.
I even went once just two days after an appendix operation. Anyway I reckon the quiz is far too difficult and I bet no-body got full marks for that stupid question about Pablo's previous clubs.
Yours etc
