Bluey unloads his Bulging Sack!

Matt Richards has put pen to paper on a new contract that will keep him at the Club until the summer of 2009.

The England U21 international, who has progressed through the Academy ranks, was out of contract at the end of this season but told the Club website: "I have been here since I was 10-years-old and full time since I was 16 so it's the only club I have known.

"I really enjoy it here, it's a great club to be at so there is no reason why I would want to leave."

Matt is included in Town's squad for Saturday's game at Leicester and is currently Blues' joint second top goalscorer alongside Alan Lee with four goals, three of them penalties.

Joe Royle hailed the performance of his players as magnificent despite Town going down to defeat at Wolves.

Kenny Miller got the only goal of the game from the penalty spot 17 minutes from time after a foul by Sito on Jeremie Aliadiere.

"I'm proud of every one of the players and thought we were magnificent," said Town boss Joe from Molineux.

"I could only see Wolves causing us problems from set-pieces and we passed them to death for long periods.

"The referee made some strange decisions to say the least and why he asked me to calm Darren Currie down at half-time when the lad has been on the end of some bad tackles, I've no idea.

"But I had no complaints with the penalty decision. He got that one right. Sito had a terrific game but he didn't need to make the tackle. No one is going to out run him.

"It was a terrific performance from us but we lacked a cutting edge and it was a display reminiscent of us before Alan Lee arrived when we played well, had bags of possession but no one there to put the chances away."

Ricardo Fuller watched the game from the sidelines after work permit restrictions delayed his loan move to Town from Southampton and Joe admitted the player was missed.

"Ricardo watched the game and said how impressed he was with our play and I'm sure he would have relished being on the end of some of our passing," he added.

Play-Offs still on says Darren

Darren Currie says that if Town can keep producing performances like the one at Wolves over the rest of the season, the Play-Offs will still be a possibility.

The 1-0 defeat at Molineux leaves Blues 10th in the Championship, eight points adrift of sixth placed Preston, although North End have two games in hand.

"We would have been disappointed to have come away with a draw so to leave with nothing is a real sickener," Darren told the Club website from Molineux.

"We bossed long periods of the game but just couldn't get the breakthrough that we deserved.

"But after the result you look at the performance and I think we can take plenty of positives out of the game despite the scoreline. If we keep producing that sort of football we still have a chance of making the top six."

Darren was the victim of some heavy challenges during the first 45 minutes but bizarrely referee Andy Woolmer instructed Joe Royle to calm the midfielder down at half-time.

"I don't know if their players had been told to get close to me or what but they kept clipping my ankles and things like that," added Darren.

"I had already been sent up in the air with one challenge when the lad Rosa came in late on me. He then stuck his face in mine and I responded. It was 'handbags', nothing really so I don't know why the ref had a word with the gaffer.

"It would have been nice though to have had a little more protection."

Gavin Williams is discussing a permanent move to Town with his agent over the next 24 hours after Blues and West Ham agreed a fee for the Welsh international.

The 25-year-old midfielder has been a regular in the Town side since joining the Club from Upton Park on loan in November and marking his debut with a goal in the 1-1 draw at Coventry.

"Gavin has done really well since he has been here and I've been delighted with him," Town boss Joe Royle told the Club website.

"He is discussing the terms of the move here with his agent over the next day or two and we'll take it from there but we are very close to finalising the move."

Gavin is unlikely to feature against Luton on Saturday though after missing training today with a knee injury.

A good away win will put us within touching distance of the play off's. Who would have believed that four weeks ago?

Ipswich Town 2 Leicester City 0

Second-half goals from Owen Garvan and Ricardo Fuller on his debut gave Town victory and kept the pressure on the teams above the Blues in the Play-Off places.

Garvan opened the scoring four minutes after the break, sliding in Darren Currie's corner then from another set-piece, Fuller rose at the near post to head in and clinch the points.

The victory takes Blues to within five points of sixth placed Preston with Joe Royle's side travelling to Deepdale next week.

Fuller started up front alongside Danny Haynes, the teenager recovering from ankle ligament injury.

Leicester opened brightly, Stephen Hughes calling Shane Supple into action, then Iain Hume wasted a glorious chance when he shot wide from 18 yards when he could have taken the ball on.

Town's first opening came on 10 minutes, Currie's free-kick scrambled clear after Paul Henderson had failed to make distance with his punch.

Nils-Eric Johansson headed wide from a corner, then picked up the first yellow card of the game for a blatant handball.

Another Currie free-kick was headed clear by Alan Maybury while at the other end, Supple was quick off his line to deny Matty Fryatt.

Johansson's challenge inside the box on Fuller brought penalty claims from Town but referee Paul Taylor waved away the appeals with the first-half coming to and end with Richard Naylor heading over from Currie's corner.

The second-half began with a flurry of chances at both ends, Henderson saving brilliantly from Ian Westlake's 15 yard strike, then Supple touching Maybury's left foot shot around the post.

Henderson then saved well again from Currie's strike but from the resultant corner Town edged in front, Garvan escaping his marker and sidefooting in from two yards at the back post.

Leicester were inches away from an equaliser five minutes later, Fryatt's angled shot just going the wrong side of the post.

Haynes almost got on the end of a Currie pass, Henderson smothering the danger, with Dean McDonald then replacing the frontman on 65 minutes.

Leicester introduced a double change five minutes, Elvis Hammond and Gareth Williams on for Danny Tiatto and Hughes.

Fuller's exchange of passes with Westlake saw the Jamaican international volley wide, then the on loan striker was denied by Henderson as he tried to turn and shoot on the edge of the box.

Supple clung on under Chris O'Grady's challenge before Town doubled the lead with six minutes left, Fuller heading in Currie's corner.

Jason De Vos blocked Hammond's goal bound strike from 10 yards as Leicester looked for a way back into the game but to no avail with the Foxes' miserable record at Portman Road continuing. They haven't won at Town since 1988, a run of 11 games while the victory saw Blues move up to ninth.

Town: Supple, Wilnis, De Vos, Naylor, Barron, Richards, Westlake, Garvan, Currie, Fuller, Haynes (McDonald 65). Subs not used: Magilton, Price, Sito, Proudlock.
